Cultural Centre (Bomb Scare)
I have come to the realization that the only bombs being made and that actually explode in Guyana are "Channa bombs" according to the white folk "Garbanzos bombs." Regardless of who was the master mind behind this devious act, the bomb never went off. For all we know the device was probably not even capable of exploding. No body in GT ever went to bomb school or has the patience to sit in front of the computer or a book to read up on "Making Bombs for Dummies". According to beliefs around the town one of the political parties was behind the commotion. However PNC or PPP or what ever sort of conspiracy going on, "to do harm to a public entertainment institution is down right nasty and despicable. " They are easier ways of getting attention or playing the blame game to look cool.

AIDS stigma in GT

" Some pride should be taken in trying to help individuals who are scarred with the virus and stained for life, or at least what is left of it." He further pointed out that Guyana has come a far way from the days when the virus was known as the "gay plague" and when working at the Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) clinic meant that a person had to be HIV positive. But he cautioned about being complacent while adding that a lot of money is now being spent in that area.
According to the article "The change in society could also be attributed to the fact that almost everyone knows someone who is infected." Titled 'Survey of Stigma and Discrimination Experiences of HIV+ Guyanese', the survey was conducted through the National AIDS Committee (NAC) who used HIV-infected persons to conduct the interviews. The 300 correspondents came from nine regions and according to NAC it was done mainly to assess the impact of stigma and discrimination on infected persons. The findings of the survey were revealed at a forum yesterday which saw representatives from various organizations working in the area. The NAC, which says it is not an executing body, hopes that entities could use the result to take action in the area.
According to the survey fears generated by attitudes that stigmatise infected persons, particularly in family and religious circles, are of greater concern than overt acts of discrimination. "Judgemental attitudes, generating shame and embarrassment, add up to powerful influences to deter people in Guyana from disclosing their HIV identity. In turn, failure to disclose generates many negative personal, societal, medical and economic consequences," the survey said.

Jamaican model strutting her stuff
Jamaican and Saint International model Sigail Currie is appearing alongside Kate Moss in one of the world's most talked about advertising campaigns for Europe's lingerie brand Agent Provocateur. The campaign was shot by famed fashion photographer Nick Knight who sent a strong message to the fashion world when he later booked the budding supermodel to star alongside him in a Samsonite campaign. Sigail made appearances for top designers in New York, London and Paris, gracing the pages of Italian Vogue and modeling for Yves St. Laurent collections in Paris in September 2006, Spring and Summer 2007 collections. Okay, this further proves my theory, light skinned chicks are not making a come back, they want the "African beauty" the darker the better. Props to Sigail, she looks good. Kareen Taylor is also another up and coming fashion model from Jamaica, doing her thing.

Mr.Universe wanna be!!
I had this video, hit up to me, a few months ago, but to be honest I never paid it any mind. Well i see they actually gave him some air time a while back at one of the concerts with brick and lace, and even heard another song on the radio yesterday. So i decided to dig up in my old archives and see if I over looked his talent.. I am still not convinced this dude is ready. I love Rap music and have a great appreciation for it, Gialianni (haven't met anyone who can pronounce his name) doesn't relate to the Guyanese audiences. He will have a hard time marketing himself. He cant sing about south side and east side in GT. Ain't no east side, west side or south side gangs up in here!! He needs to realize that and quick. He needs to rap hooks that contain Guyanese experiences. Have a look at the video and hit me up and tell me what y'all think?
Guyanese Roots

"Cut Cut" Take 210,,,,, Action !
Maybe a sign of PMSing !!
Apparently the launch was not all fun and games. According to my source the president may have experienced a mental melt down. At the Guyana Times launch which was held at the Le Meridien Pegasus, a prominent person in our society spoke and inferred that since Queen’s Atlantic (owners of Guyana Times) received as many tax breaks as they had he hoped that these would be extended to other companies as well. But apparently the joke was on him. Who told him to say that, Mr presi was heated, even went so far as to state, the individual was exhibiting a “profound ignorance” of Guyana’s tax laws. And then he went all Koo Koo from there. He exclaimed: “I don’t care!” “At this stage of my life, I don’t care!” Okay then .. maybe Presi had a fight with a certain young lady before the evening processions or maybe he simply forgot to take his brown cocoa before leaving!!

Guyana Times coming soon
Guyana Times, hmmm i know Guyanese may have a thing for copy catting. Ain't nothing wrong with that, but at least change up the name a little. According to my source, this evening at the Grand Savannah Suite of Le Meridien Pegasus the new daily newspaper will be launched. The first edition will be out tomorrow. This should be interesting to watch sales compared to other national newspapers, I can't wait.
Miss Gay Guyana Glory
No Miss Guyana Universe
"I'm not physically capable of doing it this year"Lumumba states. This is very interesting to me, no miss Guyana universe. Oh no! i was actually looking forward to it. Yeah right, everyone one knows it isn't a real competition. The general consensus is the first to sleep with the most influential people running the show the more chances of winning. Just like lotto , the more you scratch the more chances to win. Literally.. hahahh According to Melissa Payne in her pageant portfolio she was asked "What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?" and her response was "I enjoy modeling and singing, but dancing is my joy, it allows me freedom of expression that I would otherwise remain unlocked." Remains unlocked, hahah . I know who got her under lock and key .... .but i not talking. She was also asked " Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like? " and she replied " ........ I remember my great aunt telling us old folktales of horrors of no lights." Apparently she forgot to mention these horrors are actually not only folktales, but are weekly occurrences. I gave y'all a little glimpse of her contest picture she used. I will give her props she looks nice.
