The owner of the cambio Mr. Shameer Mohamed believes that the robbery occurred between Saturday night and Monday morning. According to him, the burglary was executed by a professional gang, because the thieves cut the lines to the premises that would have enabled a security firm to monitor the cambio. According to Mohamed, the burglars gained entry by using a blow-torch to cut open a heavily-grilled window in the top flat. "You know the usual mentality, Guyanese don't have time for months of preparation and planning, that is too much headache. Damn, so you know things are bad and times are hard, when a bunch of Guyanese criminals actually sat down and planned out a strategy before executing this robbery."
