Why Basketball player 's wives really stay

This is the funniest theory I have ever heard, as to why basketball player 's wives stay with their men after all the cheating, groupies and rumours of rape. Now this makes logical sense & let's use Kobe's wife as an example. After he was accused of raping a young woman (who wasn't half as pretty as his wife) in the "forsaken sexual position" he goes out and buys his wife (Vanessa) a $4 million diamond ring. Naturally, the sisterin forgave him but think about it, how was Vanessa suppose to move on with her life and find a decent man to fill that "whole" a 7 footer wearing size 20 left. That's a huge crater Kobe would have left and by any standards a normal man just can't "measure up" so to speak. The poor girl obviously had to stay and I am sure the women out there understand where I am coming from.

Cultural Centre (Bomb Scare)

I have come to the realization that the only bombs being made and that actually explode in Guyana are "Channa bombs" according to the white folk "Garbanzos bombs." Regardless of who was the master mind behind this devious act, the bomb never went off. For all we know the device was probably not even capable of exploding. No body in GT ever went to bomb school or has the patience to sit in front of the computer or a book to read up on "Making Bombs for Dummies". According to beliefs around the town one of the political parties was behind the commotion. However PNC or PPP or what ever sort of conspiracy going on, "to do harm to a public entertainment institution is down right nasty and despicable. " They are easier ways of getting attention or playing the blame game to look cool.

Minors out and about

The lollipop party on Saturday at the Blue Iguana Night club was deemed a success. The dance was jam packed with people . Nothing wrong with going to a swing, but people should not take everything in Guyana, so damn literal. If someone says a "lollipop" party that doesn't mean that you can bring along the kids to the sport, to get free sweetie. Peep this from the photos, ain't no one in that picture above the legal drinking age.

AIDS stigma in GT

With an estimated 8,000 people dying from it every day, Aids represents an international crisis of staggering proportions. Guyana is no stranger to this epidemic. A recent article in the Stabroek News paper which discussed a study done on 300 Guyanese afflicted with the virus. The article caught my attention because it managed to divulge that there is still wide spread discrimination still occurring in Guyana. Moreover, here are some comments made by one top official of a prominent counseling service, in an attempt to justify the rude and discriminating behavior of health workers in Guyana, He claims " the issue of discrimination at medical institutions should be taken in context." He noted that persons should take into consideration the conditions under which medical employees work, which sometimes would leave them stressed and in dealing with the public this may be evident in their attitudes. "Since when do the sick have to take pity for the people who are suppose to be doing their job." "Public servants / government workers always got a long sour face. I hope he realizes that better salaries and better screening of employees would help with this situation, worker satisfaction will always get you better employees, especially in the care-taking / service sector. I think his response just hit a bad nerve for me.

" Some pride should be taken in trying to help individuals who are scarred with the virus and stained for life, or at least what is left of it." He further pointed out that Guyana has come a far way from the days when the virus was known as the "gay plague" and when working at the Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) clinic meant that a person had to be HIV positive. But he cautioned about being complacent while adding that a lot of money is now being spent in that area.

According to the article "The change in society could also be attributed to the fact that almost everyone knows someone who is infected." Titled 'Survey of Stigma and Discrimination Experiences of HIV+ Guyanese', the survey was conducted through the National AIDS Committee (NAC) who used HIV-infected persons to conduct the interviews. The 300 correspondents came from nine regions and according to NAC it was done mainly to assess the impact of stigma and discrimination on infected persons. The findings of the survey were revealed at a forum yesterday which saw representatives from various organizations working in the area. The NAC, which says it is not an executing body, hopes that entities could use the result to take action in the area.

According to the survey fears generated by attitudes that stigmatise infected persons, particularly in family and religious circles, are of greater concern than overt acts of discrimination. "Judgemental attitudes, generating shame and embarrassment, add up to powerful influences to deter people in Guyana from disclosing their HIV identity. In turn, failure to disclose generates many negative personal, societal, medical and economic consequences," the survey said.

Fuel prices hold us in a stick up

Gas prices on the rise, it almost feels like a stick up, " Pay up or walk". The one-day protest was called by the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation against rising fuel costs. Private bus and truck owners have been on strike since Monday for the same reason, disrupting transport services. Protests have taken place across India since the government increased fuel prices by up to 10% last week in response to surging world oil prices. Now i have seen pictures of these protests and they are not cute, crossing my fingers it doesn't rub off on the Guyanese people. "You know we proper love riots and free holidays." I also heard there is a rise in gas theft in the US. Interesting soon everyone will be walking around with gasoline bottles, scouting prospective victims. Monkey see monkey do... lol

Jamaican model strutting her stuff

Jamaican and Saint International model Sigail Currie is appearing alongside Kate Moss in one of the world's most talked about advertising campaigns for Europe's lingerie brand Agent Provocateur. The campaign was shot by famed fashion photographer Nick Knight who sent a strong message to the fashion world when he later booked the budding supermodel to star alongside him in a Samsonite campaign. Sigail made appearances for top designers in New York, London and Paris, gracing the pages of Italian Vogue and modeling for Yves St. Laurent collections in Paris in September 2006, Spring and Summer 2007 collections. Okay, this further proves my theory, light skinned chicks are not making a come back, they want the "African beauty" the darker the better. Props to Sigail, she looks good. Kareen Taylor is also another up and coming fashion model from Jamaica, doing her thing.

Bleach but not on Clothes

I am a true believer that beauty comes from within. Now i see some people running around trying to get all bleached up lately. Haven t y'all heard light skinned sistas nor brothas not making a come back. All the high fashion models are of African descent and when i mean African i mean "choco." Case in point Tameka Marshal, I could have sworn she was at least two to three shades darker when she popped up and won by default (she was cutter than Dallas Fort and had boobs) that jingle competition. Maybe they are learning from the Ghetto rappers in the US, yeah Eve and Lil Kim have upped their shades as well in these past few years. Don't get it twisted, them white folk running to the tanning saloon to get what we got, Do believe!!!

Guyanese "Hard" at Work

We all know, Guyana suffers from an influx of "Brain Drain", like it going out of style. Individuals always speak very highly of Guyanese nationals who work in other regional territories as teachers, nurses and construction workers. But we all know, some of these women who leave in pursuit of higher wages, not just nursing the sick and teaching the kids. According to a good and reputable source," tourists prefer the Guyanese whores/prostitutes/exotic masseurs/sensual massage therapists. They are so popular that Guyanese professionals in this field are being advertised in the local newspapers in many of these countries." Advertisements in local papers !! Damn, they are getting more press coverage than X2 and Tameka. They also get the added benefit of island hopping, so when they come back home they can boast about all the places they have seen. I am sure is not only the women venturing off to get that paper, I hope they calling for a higher price since they are in such demand, from what i hear they are a cheaper commodity. I keep telling y'all females, learn from the Brazilians, charge top of the line prices, when you in a foreign country.
I am
sure we got some male whores wandering the islands, with the same job title.Guyana even got PIMPS who scout for talent and offer packages like it is a vacation deal.lol Sounds like it may be the next best thing to white dust and maryJ. Damn !!! where can i sign up !!!!

Positive " Facts"

On the 11th May, ten aspiring designers, began cutting, designing and sewing in the 'Fashion, Art and Creativity by Talented Students' quest to kick start their career in fashion. FACTS 2 competition has blossomed into a reality television show with prizes totaling $500,000 in cash and exciting career opportunities. Their first mission was to redesign school uniforms, the second entailed making outfits minus a sewing machine or thread. The third round competitors raced from the Cheddi Jagan Dental Center on Carmichael Street to the Burnham Basket Ball Court to grab two pieces of fabric and create a suitable outfit from the material. Lawd knows Ii would have been gangsta with it, no sewing machine, no thread , SHOOO that is why God invented "Crazy glue."

Guyanese talent gone wild!!

I am a firm believer in supporting local talent, but not this kind of talent. "Whatz Hottt Guyana" seemed to resemble a Ghetto Queen competition or a night at Red Dragon (minus the Brazilians) rather than a display of talent. Criteria to enter looked like one had to keep your legs apart and wear spandex. Now women wonder why they are being objectified, what do you expect if you put yourself out there like that. I know these girls aint got a day job.... lol lol . And they even got a midget, acting a damn full up in there too.

Moody Anaconda

I just have to address the issue of the anaconda attack. Well in my opinion considering that it is " hard guava season," the snake must have been hungry and going through some ‘hard times’ with its owner. Moreover the snake probably wanted to get the victim's attention for a donation or maybe the owner was trying to get the victim's attention and she refused to look at him, so he "unleashed his anaconda" on her. This show and tell with snakes is done all over the world, but he should be issued with a license of some sort.

Queen Latifah is gay .... DUH

Now people, I find it hard to believe that everyone didn't already know Queen Latifah was gay. Apparently everyone in GT now figuring this out. Latifah and her long time girlfriend of 5 years Jeanette Jenkins have been talking about marriage nuptials since November 2007. Well Kudos to them. Hope it lasts, we all know the success rates of marriages in the US is less than 50% and that is for heterosexuals. Statistics show that homosexuals are less faithful, so you can only imagine what their chances will be like. Then again, the research may be talking about homosexual men not women.....we all know men and their "anacondas". Well if you are interested in all the controversial arguments centered around gay marriages have a look at the link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Same-sex_marriage

Guyanese men will love this one

I was looking up some info on google and no not no porno site but i came across this ole time story come back again, called "hot tamali". Back in the days we used to say "peppering" which involves a man putting tabasco or in local terms "pepper sauce" on a condom & having s** with he woman. Now dem crazy white people were describing this thing as some sorta of pleasure act but to be honest i ain't know which "anta banta" would enter a woman for her to find pleasure in that. it is damn sexual punshiment but i know guys out there who would like.

Guyanese Claimers

Tell me, is why Guyanese always claiming somebody famous. I remember back in the 90's we started with Deborah Cox who subsequently went crazy or at least so I heard. Now we moved onto Rhianna and Leona Lewis. Dave Martins encouraged us to say "Essequibo is we own" but i think that's as far as we should go, since half of these famous people don't claim us back. Ain't it a damn shame.

Mr.Universe wanna be!!

I had this video, hit up to me, a few months ago, but to be honest I never paid it any mind. Well i see they actually gave him some air time a while back at one of the concerts with brick and lace, and even heard another song on the radio yesterday. So i decided to dig up in my old archives and see if I over looked his talent.. I am still not convinced this dude is ready. I love Rap music and have a great appreciation for it, Gialianni (haven't met anyone who can pronounce his name) doesn't relate to the Guyanese audiences. He will have a hard time marketing himself. He cant sing about south side and east side in GT. Ain't no east side, west side or south side gangs up in here!! He needs to realize that and quick. He needs to rap hooks that contain Guyanese experiences. Have a look at the video and hit me up and tell me what y'all think?

Guyanese Roots

Leona Lewis has become a household name, after winning Simon Cowell’s X Factor and going platinum (six times!) in the U.K., with her chart hit "Bleeding Love". Leona notched up another award at last night’s Glamour magazine Awards when she was crowned the UK solo artist of the year. Known as the Glammies, the Glamour Awards honour the UK’s highest achieving women in film, TV and music, theatre, business and literature from the last twelve months. The awards are voted for by Glamour magazine readers and Leona came out on top after an amazing year of chart topping and record breaking success. Did i mention she is of Guyanese seed as well. Y'all know how Guyanese men love to sow their seeds in foreign terrains. hahah I just saying. All in all she seems down to earth, very elegant and she can sing, I hope the hype don't get to her.

"Cut Cut" Take 210,,,,, Action !

Simone is such a waste. I gave her enough time to catch on and learn more than two words at a time, but she bores me to death. She has no clue about reading gossip nor the news in general. I think Kerwin should invest their money in a better VJ/Host. They are of the misconception that a girl has to have a pretty face to catch someones attention. Maybe in person, but not on TV sweeties. Take a hint from RE Tv, the hostess ain't got a baby face but she can grab my attention and hold it for more than 2 minutes, she is vibrant, well versed, has knowledge of the topics she presents and has general mass appeal, she is simply likable. Get Simone off please save your selves. Moreover I love gossip and Simone just killing it for me, all those cuts getting me dizzy.

Maybe a sign of PMSing !!

Apparently the launch was not all fun and games. According to my source the president may have experienced a mental melt down. At the Guyana Times launch which was held at the Le Meridien Pegasus, a prominent person in our society spoke and inferred that since Queen’s Atlantic (owners of Guyana Times) received as many tax breaks as they had he hoped that these would be extended to other companies as well. But apparently the joke was on him. Who told him to say that, Mr presi was heated, even went so far as to state, the individual was exhibiting a “profound ignorance” of Guyana’s tax laws. And then he went all Koo Koo from there. He exclaimed: “I don’t care!” “At this stage of my life, I don’t care!” Okay then .. maybe Presi had a fight with a certain young lady before the evening processions or maybe he simply forgot to take his brown cocoa before leaving!!

Guyana Times coming soon

Guyana Times, hmmm i know Guyanese may have a thing for copy catting. Ain't nothing wrong with that, but at least change up the name a little. According to my source, this evening at the Grand Savannah Suite of Le Meridien Pegasus the new daily newspaper will be launched. The first edition will be out tomorrow. This should be interesting to watch sales compared to other national newspapers, I can't wait.

Miss Gay Guyana Glory

Wow, I actually missed this pageant. I am sure this pageant was a blast, to see true talent for once, on stage. Because in my opinion it takes a damn good actress to pull off that look. Congrates I am not hating, you Go Girl.

No Miss Guyana Universe

"I'm not physically capable of doing it this year"Lumumba states. This is very interesting to me, no miss Guyana universe. Oh no! i was actually looking forward to it. Yeah right, everyone one knows it isn't a real competition. The general consensus is the first to sleep with the most influential people running the show the more chances of winning. Just like lotto , the more you scratch the more chances to win. Literally.. hahahh According to Melissa Payne in her pageant portfolio she was asked "What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?" and her response was "I enjoy modeling and singing, but dancing is my joy, it allows me freedom of expression that I would otherwise remain unlocked." Remains unlocked, hahah . I know who got her under lock and key .... .but i not talking. She was also asked " Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like? " and she replied " ........ I remember my great aunt telling us old folktales of horrors of no lights." Apparently she forgot to mention these horrors are actually not only folktales, but are weekly occurrences. I gave y'all a little glimpse of her contest picture she used. I will give her props she looks nice.

M.I.A "Sunshowers"

Let me know what you think.

M.I.A. - Sunshowers

Beauty & the Money

Carolan Lynch, wants to make headlines again. This time she is putting her vocals to the test, she is currently in the studio working on a single. Carolan states“I’m working on a single with a very popular reggae legend… recording at the Vision Sounds." The song will be released in time for CARIFESTA, the song reportedly is about a girl who lives alone, and the guy wants to come over to her place. The Beauty queen /alleged murderer/Illegal Guns & weapons possessor/LSLH is also working with her lawyers to finalise arrangements to have her appear on the Dr. Phil show. I wonder what Dr. Phil will get out of that story. Then again, he always likes to talk to loonies. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why NO big name stars go on his show. hahaha. Oh and a little fairy also whispered and told me, she is about to publish her memoir. Yeah ain't no shame she trying to make her paper. I hope the memoir will not be something like OJ Simpson's book, because i have the perfect title.......... Confessions of a Beauty Queen.. hahahhaha

MIA , who the hell !!

Maya Arulpragasam is a Tamalian of Sri Lankan descent. Best known by her stage name, M.I.A., her work in music often features a range of elements of genres. An accomplished visual artist by 2002, M.I.A. came to prominence in early 2004 through file sharing singles "Galang" and "Sunshowers" on the Internet. In 2005, her debut album, Arular, was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Her second album, Kala, was released in 2007.She recently announced her engagement to the son of Warner head honcho Edgar Bronfman. MIA plans to marry Bronfman’s son, rock guitarist, Benjamin Brewer as soon as possible. Sources say, M.I.A.’s work visa expires at the end of June which means she has to leave her NY apartment and exit the country, unless she’s marries an American by then. Y'all Caribbean people damn and well know what I am talking about. M.I.A. once said she wanted to marry Kanye West so she could qualify for a green card. The 27-year-old performed for 30 minutes at an MTV Movie Awards after-party and during her performance, she jumped on top of a photo booth and told the crowd she was making $100K for the gig. Who the hell cares?

Another artist in court... no surprise

Machel Montano was in court this week, following charges stemming from last years assault charges. Montano, Kernel Roberts, Joel "Zan" Fezeck, and Rodney "Benjai" Le Blanc are accused of assaulting Russell Pollonais and Brandis Browne on April 26, 2007, outside the Zen nightclub at Keate Street, Port of Spain. To add insult to injury, Montano faces an additional charge of using obscene language, is that even possible!!! No fight, is a good fight, with out the use of some good old fashion "duty words".

Ain't nothing wrong with Alicia Keys.

Y'all know I do love to read my daily gossip blogs. But I have to say, some of them are being rather critical of singers in the industry. I don't know why they hating so much. Have a glimpse of Alicia Keys performing at Hot 97 Summer Jam, ain't nothing wrong with that child. She looks just fine to me. The most you can divulge from this picture is that she probably actually ate before she came on stage or she just simply was bloated, just like all us girls get once a month. It ain't no plastic surgery gone wrong either cause that just may be sun screen lotion on her stomach. Why my blog girls hating, damn , stop that, y'all know Alicia be looking good and keeping it real.

VYBZ, IS WHAT I HEARING!!!

I guess not even a “Trailer load of Money” could buy a Man righteous marriage, baby mudda or fatherhood. I guess that’s what Vybez Kartel must be saying after he found out that his wife of 2 years (after a 4 year relationship) gave birth to a son in New York who was fathered by another Man. The DJ has filed divorce papers citing his 31 year old wife, gave birth to a child and he is not the father since he claims after his visa was revoked from traveling to the US, his wife never came to Jamaica to visit him. If the allegations are true regarding the paternity of his wife's son then the two are both guilty of carrying on other relationships during the course of their marriage. But then, what else is new in our society these days. Back in November of 2007 when a conflict arose between Kartel and his baby Mother SheriKa Todd over paternity of their daughter. Vybz Kartel made this statement in an exclusive interview.“I terminated the relationship a few months ago because I don’t think that child is mine, I moved in my new girlfriend in the apartment and told her (Sherika) to leave.”

PROPS FOR DE BOY “BRAINS”!!!

I see that Roger Hassell known as “Brains” from the Brains Watch World Commercial has shown Guyanese that he is a multi-talented young man by joining the Brutal Jammers Band as the lead singer. The Brother could repair your watch & sing you a tune at the same time, now what more could a customer ask for. Although, I had gone to “dat watch store” where he worked to repair my watch and the watch regressed within a day. So I happy he gives up his day job and sticks to the singing.
